Birthday Picture for my best friend Tulpen-Teufel featuring her Merboy Fridolin šŸ˜€
Itā€™s been finished for a few months but since Iā€™ve been gone for a while and itā€™s #mermay2018 I thought Iā€™d upload it now^^ Better late than never, right? (^0^)9

Iā€™d greatly appreciate all shares, likes and comments, they really mean the world to me!

If you wanna know more about Fridolin I suggest checking out Tulpiā€™s drawings and her reference sheet of him, they are absolutely beautiful ā¤ And since I love underwater scenes I pretty much knew from the beginning I had to draw him sometime, so choosing him for a Birthday Present was easy really, even though she has many great OCs^^
For some reason though I thought it was a great idea to make him a bit older in my picture since I really wanted to draw long flowy hair. That is until I actually started sketching it haha.
At least the rest of the underwater stuff was lots of fun and pretty easy ^0^

I tried a few new things in this picture, especially concept wise. A dynamic pose with a good flow line, a proper fore- and background and also I actually made an effort to color everything as being a part of their surroundings. Which meant using looooots of blue with all of this being underwater. That again made me scared that the color scheme would be boring, I hope I was able to avoid that.
What was also new here was my use of Masking Fluid which honestlyā€¦ made all of this hell xD I had to start over after already drawing the Background 3 times because the Fluid had ruined the paper. That was already annoying enough, but since the sketch was so detailed it took over 1 hour to trace alone. At least I didnā€™t color Fridolin himself before adding the Masking Fluid or I would have given up.
By the way if you have any questions about how a certain part was made, feel free to ask^^

In the end I think I like this pictureā€¦? I certainly like the flowing hair and the body, especially since I donā€™t draw male characters all that often. The bubbles and the water surface also turned out well I think.
What I donā€™t like is the perspective though, I should have done something more dynamic here and as I said Iā€™m really unsure about the color scheme. Also I need to force myself to actually draw everything as being part of the background (is there a term for this?). I already tried but Iā€™m not happy with it. I always wanna make everything the color it would be if you took a photo with a white background with it but that makes it look like it doesnā€™t belong in the drawing. Does that make sense?

Back from Nirvana

Hi everyone (^0^)/

As the title
suggests: Iā€™m back online^^

And before I hit you
with long-winded reasons and stories I want to first say that Iā€™m
sorry. Sorry for just vanishing, not keeping in contact with my
friends here and on other online sites and not even leaving a quick
post to show that Iā€™m still alive. I felt incredibly guilty for
this and not responding to messages and soon enough didnā€™t log into
my websites anymore at all, even though I missed my friends.

So what did I do
while being offline for the lastā€¦ 1 Ā½ years?
Not much really.
I had planned to sort out my life since, as many of you know, I
suffer from a bipolar disorder, social anxiety and other smaller
health issues. However isolating myself did not help me improve and
instead made things worse, as one actually could have guessed.
Instead of having more time to learn and draw I ended up with bad
episodes, not communicating much at all for months and at the same
time convincing myself that everything will improve if I just try a
little harder.

Finally, a few weeks
ago, I had a moment of epiphany. I canā€™t and donā€™t want to keep
living like this, I have to change something. So now Iā€™m on a new
medication, am going back to therapy and most importantly want to
reconnect with my friends and acquaintances online and offline!

It still took me
quite a bit of time and courage to write all this down, especially
since I donā€™t want to make it sound like Iā€™m trying to gain
sympathy or pity or even use this story for attention.

I just want to tell
those who care the truth in as few as possible paragraphs. To have
this out of the way, for them and for me.

For a fresh start I turned this to a personal blog and made a blog exclusively for my art, though I will still reblog my pictures here too.
Iā€™ll introduce my new blogs in a separate post but if you already wanna know or follow it, itā€™s named artist-yutaki

Yesā€¦ I think that
is it. I will write some personal messages to try and start talking
and communicating again with everyone I missed (and actually feel
confident enough writing an unprompted message) ā¤ If I donā€™t
write you always feel free to strike up a convo! I either forgot
because Iā€™m very scatter brained on my new meds or chances are even
higher that I was too shy, haha^^ā€

Every message means
the world to me, but if you donā€™t feel like writing or even
answering that is totally fine too of course, after all Iā€™ve been
gone for so long!

Iā€™ll start writing
messages and answers tomorrow, this post sadly already took all my
energy and courage to make and post plus itā€™s already late.
