I said that I’d show some tutorials I have saved up to someone, but decided that I’d just go ahead and post most of what I have stored away and create a sort of masterpost out of it. (I figure it’ll help me just as much since, as of now, they’re all pretty scattered between my Tumblr and bookmarks)
A lot of these are hosted on my personal Tumblr, but I don’t change my url so it’s pretty safe to bookmark them there (and not have to worry about the url changing) if you don’t wish to reblog them yourself for whatever reason.

DIY Cinemagraph Tutorial from Blog Spoon Graphics here. Do you know Photoshop and want an easy to follow cinemagraph tutorial? I’ve seen several tutorials for making cinemagraphs, but this one is really clear and just came out today. For the ultimate cinamagraphs go to Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck’s site cinemagraphs.com to see it used in fashion and product placement. Both Cinemagraphs: from Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck’s site. I couldn’t get Tumblr to “like” the example from Blog Spoon Graphics.
Not a real school. Click and drag the animated gif to the side, read what you got. You will not be graded. Do as many as you like, when you can.

Another mass WIP post for you all! This one is for Kiety, of her anthro ocelot hanging out in the canopy with her tuxedo cat, Nova. This time I’ll run down my process a little bit.
1 – Refined sketch! I lost my thumbnail for this one, but I did about 7 black and white composition thumbnails before deciding on the final layout. This stage is actually more like step two.
2 – Flat colors for the figures and main branches/foliage, and some flats for background foliage.
3 – Initial shadow/light layer. This is a layer on top of the flat colors set to multiply, into which I paint my chosen shadow and light colors. Shadows on this one are a grey/green, and light a warm creamy orange.
4 – I bump up the light colors with a couple layers set to overlay, trying to bring out the dappled light more. Also added some more background plants to give it that busy jungly look.
5 – I add another layer on top set to multiply to help deepen the colors overall, and get the darks darker. This is like a warm reddish copy of the initial shadow layer in step three.
6 – Now that I have the light the way I want, I start painting the nitty gritty details in. Mostly fur texture, and refining some of the leaf shapes. This is a layer on top of everything set to normal. I use the eyedropper tool to choose my colors as I’m painting.
7 – Add sunbeams, and ta-da! All done!
8 – Close-up of what it looks like BEFORE paint stage. Relatively loosely painted in.
9 – Another close-up after details.
Total time for this one was 29 hours, done in Photoshop with my Intuos 3 tablet. Check out the final image at a larger size on my DA page!

FUCKING DISNEY 3D GLASSES: memes that are more useful than actual class
here is a list of deviantart memes that are more helpful than our character design teacher could ever hope to be. i wouldn’t say you have to do all of them, or even every thing in each one (switch stuff up a bit if it inspires you to draw a different pose), but they’re all good starting places!
Expressions and Body Language
25 Essential Character Expressions – super helpful for different emotions you might not normally draw
Ultimate Expressions – same thing but bigger if you have like a YEAR
Reactions – expressions, but with a reason!
Body Language – body language is just as important as facial expression, so this is a good one to tryPoses
Annoying Poses – some tricky things
Action Poses – HIGH KICKS ALL AROUND
Action Poses II – (for more subdued characters)
Character Poses – various, everyday thingsDevelopment
Different Ages – it’d probably be better to space out the ages more, but it’s a good start
Character Variety – figure out what makes them unique
Wardrobe – drawing clothes is FUN
updated age memeOther Stuff
Character Building – more of a written thing, but interesting if you’re into that kind of stuff
